It’s all getting Christmasy here at the coast, or as Christmasy as is possible in 30 degree temperatures with warm, white sandy beaches underfoot! OK, so we’re not all wearing Christmas jumpers and warming up in front of a crackling fire with a glass of mulled wine, but, that doesn’t mean that there is any lack of Christmas spirit and merriment here in Watamu! In fact, it’s quite the opposite…
On Saturday Father Christmas paid a visit to Ocean Sports with a giant sack of presents for all the excited children. He was planning a spectacular entrance by parachute but unfortunately there were issues with his plane so he arrived by tuk-tuk instead! The kids loved it and had a very fun day with a party cocktail of games, balloons, sweets and prizes!
On Sunday we had our annual Christmas Craft Fair which was a great success. 36 exhibitors came from as far as Tanzania to take part and ensured that everyone’s last minute Christmas Shopping was done and dusted. Our new outside bar offered everyone the chance to sit down, sip on a cold drink and admire the stunning view of the very clear Indian Ocean.
So, with the presents all wrapped and under the tree, there’s only one thing left to do before Christmas Day and that is to join us on Christmas Eve at Ocean Sports to belt out some carols! It’s one of our favourite nights of the year as everyone rolls in dresses as Christmasy as is possible in Watamu, all in a jolly good mood and ready to celebrate this very special time of the year. We give out delicious home-made mince pies and you’ll be able to order a glass of our own version of mulled wine deliciously chilled!
All of us at Ocean Sports hope that our friends around the world have a lovely Christmas and a very happy new year. If you weren’t able to join us here in Watamu this year, then we hope you can make it out in 2016. Until then, Happy Christmas from paradise!
